Bishop Huger and Pastor Geraldine Ford have been married for over 40 years. They were blessed with two children, Geanetta and Huger Jr., three grandsons, and one granddaughter. Bishop Huger Ford is a retired Air Force veteran of 24 years, and retired civil servant formerly at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, as a Survivor Benefits Counselor. Pastor Geraldine Ford is retired and previously worked as a Management Analyst at the Defense Contract Management Agency for the Navy.

In December 1999, the Fords received a mandate to venture out and establish a church in the Virginia Beach area by their pastor, Pastor Dr. Melvin Levi Austin, Church of God in Christ.  God blessed the Ford family to find favor with the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel, and there the New Bethel Family Worship Center was founded. After being in the hotel for over a year, they were blessed to relocate to 5691 Weblin Drive with 14 members.  After a period of six years and directions from God, New Bethel Family Worship Center was reconstituted and Blessed Hope Christian Center was formed. God prospered BHCC to grow and as the membership grew, the facility was incapable of accommodating the growth of membership comfortably.  After extensive hard work and some faithful and dedicated members, the Pastor’s Ford spearheaded a $30,000.00 project to renovate their worship center. Little did we know, the renovation of the new space would be short-lived.  After 18 months, the church was favored by God and man and purchased a new church in Portsmouth, VA, where they are now, under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Charles Daniels, New Beginnings International Ministries, Killeen, TX.

After over 22 years in ministry, the Fords are more determined than ever to advance the Kingdom of God through their love for God and His people. The love, compassion and understanding persona of the Fords has drawn many people far and near. They are committed to feeding, clothing and sheltering the homeless according to the Word of God.  The Fords are determining to be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord as they continue to exemplify the Word of God without compromise in their lifestyle.
